About MP High Court: On the 1st of November 1956 the States Reorganization Act was enacted. The new state of Madhya Pradesh was constituted under S.9 thereof. Subsection (1) of Section 49 of the States Re-organization Act ordained that from the appointed day i.e., 1st of November 1956, the High Court exercising jurisdiction, in relation to the existing state of Madhya Pradesh, i.e. Nagpur High Court, shall be deemed to be the High Court for the present state of Madhya Pradesh. Thus Nagpur High Court was not abolished but by a legal fiction, it became the High Court for the new state of Madhya Pradesh with its seat at Jabalpur. Hon’ble the Chief Justice, vide order dated 1st of November 1956 constituted temporary benches of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh at Indore and Gwalior.
Introduction: Madhya Pradesh High Court (MP High Court) is inviting online applications to fill the posts of Legal Assistant/ Law Clerk Cum Research Assistant on a contractual basis. Candidates who completed Degree in Law with experience in Legal affairs are only eligible to apply.

Age Limit:
Candidates’ age should be in between 18-35 years as of 23-09-2022. Age is relaxable for reserved category candidates. Relaxation is provided to candidates according to rules and regulations
Educational Qualification
- Candidates must possess a Degree in Law from a recognized University/ Institute and the qualification must be recognized by the Bar Council of India
- Candidates must enroll as an Advocate in the Bar Council.
- Candidates studying in the fifth year of the Five-Year Integrated Law Course are also eligible to apply, subject to furnishing proof of Law graduate at the time of interview for Legal Assistant/Law Clerkcum-Research Assistant.
- The candidate must have basic Office/Open Office/Ubuntu OS information from the internet, online various search engines/processes.
Job Duties
The Legal Assistant Law Clerk-Gum-Research Assistant shall perform such duties as directed by the Hon’ble Judge concerned and perform
such other duties as may be assigned by the Registrar General/ Principal Registrar/ Registrar from time to time.
Pay Scale
Selected Candidates will get payment of about Rs. 20,000/- by the recruiting organization.
Selection Procedure
- Soon after receipt of the application forms, MP High Court will shortlist the candidates to interview.
- The candidate shall bring their Online application form & self-attested copies of all the relevant/ necessary documents on the scheduled date & time of the interview.
- The applicants who are found eligible for the assignment of Legal Assistant, Law Clerk-cum-Research Assistant shall be required to undergo an Interview to be held at Jabalpur, Indore, and Gwalior (at all or one or more places), as the case may be.
- The Interview shall be for 100 marks and a candidate has to secure a minimum of 50% marks in an interview to be finally selected subject to merit & number of seats.
- On the basis of bio-data and the marks secured by the candidates in the Interview, a merit list of candidates shall be drawn to be kept
- The merit list of candidates shall be placed for approval before the Hon’ble Chief ‘Justice. The candidates whose names are approved for giving assignment shall be put in a Panel as per merit and they shall be assigned duties as per requirement.
- After the declaration of the Result, Candidates can see their marks and download their Score Card by Log-in with their User I.D. & Password.
