Patiala Locomotive Works Apprentices Recruitment 2022: Patiala Locomotive works (PLW) is inviting applications to fill the posts of Trade Apprentices on a temporary basis. Candidates who completed ITI in the concerned disciplines/ trades are only eligible to apply. All the individuals must apply online mode.
About Patiala Locomotive works: PLW Patiala is a fully owned Production Unit of Indian Railways, which was set up in October 1981 as “Diesel Component Works” (DCW), to meet the ever-increasing demand for high precision maintenance spares of ALCo diesel locomotives. It is located in the heritage city of Patiala and is the pride of Punjab. With 3000+ employees, the unit sprawls over 557 acres of land along with its integrated township.
After successfully meeting this objective under Phase-I of the project, another major activity of Mid-life rebuilding (MLR) of ALCo locos was introduced in 1989-90 under Phase II. During MLR, the 2600 HP locomotives were upgraded to 3100/3300 HP locos, besides applying other retro upgrades like AC-DC transmission, improved fuel efficiency and reduced periodicity of maintenance, etc. With the change in its core activities, the unit was rechristened as “Diesel Loco Modernization Works (DMW)” in 2003.

Age Limit
The candidate’s age should be in between 15-24 years as of 31-10-2022. Age is relaxable for reserved category candidates.
- OBC Candidates: 3 Years
- SC/ ST Candidates: 5 Years
Educational Qualification
- Candidates must complete High School with ITI in the concerned trade from a recognized Institute with a minimum of 60% of marks
- Candidates who completed the VIII Class or 12th Class from a recognized board are also eligible to apply.
Pay Scale
Selected Candidates will receive a Stipend according to the recruitment rules of Patiala Locomotive Works (PLW)
Selection Procedure
- The selection criteria will be based on the merit of the percentage of marks obtained by candidates in Interviews conducted by the Patiala Locomotive Works (PLW)
- Candidates will be selected based on the ITI marks merit or performance in the written test
- Documents verification will be held on the dates prescribed by the Patiala Locomotive Works (PLW)
- All the candidates must bring certificates in support of age, and educational qualification for attending the interview.
Documents to be needed while submission:
- Aadhar Card: Format: PDF, Size: Less than 1MB.
- Qualifying 10th Class, ITI Certificates
- Passport size photograph: JPEG, Size: Less than 200KB (“3.5* 4.5”).
- Bank Accounts details.
- Valid personal Email ID.
- Mobile number (will be required to send/verify OTP).
Documents need to be submitted at the time of the interview:
1. One set of Photocopy/Xerox copies of all the above Certificates
2. Apprentice registration copy from Apprenticeship portal, apprenticeshipindia.gov.in
3. Recent copies of Passport size photographs.
Application Fee
All the candidates must pay an application fee of about Rs. 100/- through online mode.
