Indian Air Force Recruitment 2022: Indian Air Force is inviting online applications to fill the posts of the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT). Indian Air Force AFCAT 01/2023 for the courses commencing in January 2024 for grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) in Flying Branch and Permanent Commission (PC) / Short Service Commission (SSC) in Ground Duty (Technical) and Ground Duty (Non-technical) Branches & Online applications are also invited for NCC Special Entry Scheme (For grant of PC/SSC in Flying Branch). The detailed eligibility and application process of AFCAT 2023 are given in below.

About Indian Air Force: The Indian Air Force (IAF) is the air arm of the Indian armed forces. It is the world’s fourth-largest air force in terms of both personnel and aircraft. Its primary responsibility is to secure Indian airspace and to conduct aerial warfare during a conflict.

Age Limit

  • Flying Branch – 20 to 24 years as of 1st January 2024
  • Ground Duty (Technical/ Non-Technical Branches) – 20 to 26 years as of 1st January 2024

Educational Qualification

Flying Branch:

  • Minimum of 60% marks each in Maths & Physics at 10+2 level.
  • Graduates (Three Year Courses) in any discipline from a recognized University who have attained a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent OR BE/B Tech (Four Year Courses) from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
  • Cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institute Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
  • Final Year students are also eligible to apply, provided they do not have any backlog at the time of AFSB Testing and produce Degree certificates issued by the University as per the date stipulated in the advertisement.

Ground Duty (Technical):

Aeronautical Engineering:

  • After completion of an Engineering degree or while in your final year/semester of Engineering
  • For both Men and Women. Permanent Commission (for men) / Short Service Commission (For men and women)
  • Marks – Must have scored a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in any one of the listed disciplines.
  • Final year students are eligible to apply provided they do not have any present backlog at the time of SSB testing and they produce provisional/ original degree issued by the University as per the date stipulated in the advertisement.

Ground Duty(Non-Technical)

Administration

  • Graduate Degree (Minimum three years degree course) in any discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

Logistics

  • Graduate Degree (Minimum three years degree course) in any discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

NCC Special Entry (Flying Branch).

  • Minimum 60% marks in each in Maths & Physics at 10 + 2 level.

  • BE/B Tech (Four Year Course) from a recognised University with minimum 60% marks or equivalent(OR)

  • Final Year/semester students are also eligible to apply, provided they do not have any present backlogs at the time of AFSB Testing and produce Degree certificates issued by the University as per the date stipulated in the advertisement.
  • NCC Air Wing Senior Division ’C’ certificate and the validity of the certificate would be two years before the date of advertisement.

Note: Candidates who are studying in the final year/semester Degree course and are yet to pass the final year degree examination can also apply provided the candidate should not have any present backlog and should have secured a minimum of 60% marks upto the last semester/year for which results have been declared upto the time of submission of application.

Pay Scale

Selected candidates will receive pay in the range of about Rs. 56,100 – 1,77,500/- PM by the recruiting organization.

Selection Procedure

Indian Air Force Selection Procedure is illustrated below.

Soon after the completion of the submission of application forms, the Indian Air Force will shortlist the candidates for the AFCAT Examination at one of the examination centers mentioned

Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT) will also be conducted for Ground Duty (Technical) branch along with AFCAT.

AFCAT will be for two hours and will contain multiple choice questions on verbal ability, numerical ability, reasoning, general awareness and military aptitude. Sample question papers and syllabus of AFCAT/ EKT is available on the IAF career website www.careerairforce.nic.in. The engineering Knowledge Test would be for 45 minutes and conducted immediately after AFCAT. It is mandatory for the candidates opting for Ground Duty (technical) branch to pass both AFCAT & EKT.

The AFCAT 2022 testing would consist of three stages as given below:-

  • Stage-I. Officer Intelligence Rating Test along with Picture Perception and discussion test will be conducted on the first day. Stage-I test is a screening test and only those who qualify would undergo subsequent testing. All Stage-I qualified candidates would be subjected to a document check to ascertain their eligibility for the branches applied for. Candidates who either do not qualify in Stage-I or do not meet the required eligibility criteria would be sent back on the first day itself.
  • Stage-II. Psychological tests, Group Tests and Interviews would commence after the document check for the next five days.
  • For Flying Branch. Computerized Pilot Selection System (CPSS) would be administered to recommended candidates only. This is once in a lifetime test. Candidates who have failed the CPSS/PABT in an earlier attempt or a Flight Cadet suspended from flying training at Air Force Academy will not be eligible to apply.

Application Fee

Candidates must pay an examination fee of about Rs. 250/- through online mode.

  • After checking your eligibility, click on the Online application form
  • Fill out all the particulars in the online application form carefully at the appropriate places.
  • Upload a recent copy of the passport-size photograph, signature, and relevant certificates of testimonials at designated positions.
  • Submit the online application form after checking all the details.
  • Take a printout copy of the online application form for future reference.

Documents need to be submitted at the time of Submission of the Application Form:

1. Scanned Photo duly signed by the Candidate
2. Scanned Signatures of the Candidate.
3. Scanned copies of degrees and mark sheets of Educational Qualifications.
4. Scanned copy of SC/BC-A/BC-B/EWS/ESMiDESM/DFF certificate
5. Scanned copy of PwBD Certificate. (For PwBD).
